Love in RetrospectA Poem by SamodaReminiscing about the days I started falling in love with my other half.Love in Retrospect Years do not wear on the memory of that day, While others rushed to school, I kept my cool and strolled
on in, Sure she peaked my interest like most of the banks around, and with curves like road I could name all the corners I'd love to be her banks around. But that’s just attraction right? Cupid’s trigger happy
sibling probably meddling for humor’s sake And besides I've seen it all, I know what can be expressed
from a human’s face But nothing could have prepared me for this day, You are just you aren't you? I looked at your lips and felt despair for not having tasted
them, I imagine yours and mine would collide in symphony, like the
dance of the swans, Our own melody to the song we’d co-write, you’ll never feel
like snow white on a slow night. I see you smile, and I feel exposed, I feel like everyone can
see the want building in my eyes, And as my chest recovers my hands must make the sacrifice,
so as I greet you with a hug my body goes numb, the warmth of your touch, the
softness of your skin, pleasure knew us personally; oh can we be like this forever? Nothing could have prepared me for this day. And the attraction was just a fraction of how I felt, See, cause my ears also guide me to love and the things you
say are soothing to my soul, Your actions titillate my affections, and my afflictions
didn't stand a chance when your vocal chords strummed… ‘Are you OK’? That was all I needed. Now there is so much to look forward to, my love is in my
Love’s hand, what can I say? Now your love helps to prepare me for each day. © 2014 Samoda |
