Why I Cry

Why I Cry

A Poem by J. Sam Barr
"

The different tears we shed

"

I shed a tear, I sob and I wail;
why do my eyes cry?
With my spirit becoming so frail
but my tears just won’t dry

My eyes cry when I am sad;
the tears are tears of sorrow
My mind seems like it’s going mad
and it seems there’s no tomorrow

My eyes cry when my heart aches;
the tears are tears of desolation
Quest for relief for my heart’s sake
for my hurt seems deep in isolation

My eyes cry when I am desperate;
the tears are tears of stagnation
My spirit seeks to soar and gyrate
but I feel helpless in my invocations

My eyes cry for others;
the tears are tears of devotion
For sons, daughters, mothers and fathers
who are annihilated in abomination

My eyes cry for the weak and meek;
the tears are tears of consolation
Treaded upon, only relief they seek
from injustice to emancipation

My eyes cry when I’m touched;
the tears are tears of emotion
All that caresses my heart so much
its’ such a tremendous sensation

My eyes cry when I am happy;
the tears are tears of joy
With erupting laughter so snappy
but these tears I do truly enjoy.
