Home AgainA Poem by J.A. Stevensnot all casualties come home in body bagsHome Again
By: J. A. Stevens Here I am, back in my home again After a three year lifetime trip through hell My body intact, though wounded in spirit Everything seems to be exactly the same Though everything is really very different My loved ones are all around me again But I feel that I barely know them I’ve missed so much, I’m not who I was I don’t even seem to remember who they were I have returned home to a parody of my life I sure do miss my good buddies though The ones who lived, the ones who died We promised to stay in touch, but we won’t They’re way too busy with their own parodies Nursing their own invisible spiritual wounds My wife and I just aren’t one like we were My little dog barks when I open the door My kids father has become a picture on the wall I have no idea what my purpose is now I sure hope we can all learn to love me again (24 lines) © Copyright 2012 J.A.
