Separation of Hearts
By: J. A. Stevens

Every night as I lay to sleep
I cry a little tear
For my darling lover
So far away from here

I need so very badly
To feel the gentle touch
Of my lover’s caring hand
That I miss so very much

The distant miles that separate
My darling’s heart and mine
Cause me to ache incessantly
To hurt and fret and pine

But they should know that honestly
It’s the joy they bring I miss
And I would give up all I have
For just one soft sweet kiss
