One InstanceA Poem by J.A. Stevensa vision of the totalitarian police state in actionThe fat cop swaggered As he walked up to the kids And asked them how they were doing
tonight He said he smelt something funny They said they weren't doing nothing Of course he searched them anyway Didn't
find anything They
were pretty certain He
was violating their rights But
what could they do They
were just kids One
started to protest But
he said that they were underage And
out after dark And
he smelt something funny He
said how would they like it If
he called all their parents And
told them that they were all out here Smoking
pot Which
they weren't They
were talking about girls He
said he had suspicions But
couldn't prove anything So
he guessed that he would have to Just
let them off with a warning This
time And
he told them to all go home Off the street And for them not to let him catch
them again like this Or he'd lock them up And so they went (31 lines) © 2013 J.A. Stevens |
