Flora

Flora

A Poem by Jennifer Roberts
"

Free verse poem inspired by the statue of Zephyr and Flora dancing.

"

gasping her alluring, sunshine fragrance
exhaling mists of passion,
while barely holding her
he scoops her closer—
a gesture, a promise of taking flight

she is almost hesitant
as he draws her in
is she afraid to fall?
does she dare to soar?

an embodiment of annual resurrection,
an evergreen bouquet
she will not fall
he would never—
she is on a pedestal already
that is not enough—

once her arms are around him!
—the heights she will be taken to

permanent expressions of curiosity and desire
the entanglement of her legs with his
the subtle entwining of their fingers
metaphysical lovers bound together

Captivating imagery; I am impressed.
Now you have me curious to see the statue for myself.
It sounds beautiful...

This poem is very good! I love the words you chose. I admit I haven't seen the statue but I could picture it with the words you wrote.
