A Sick Pleasure

A Sick Pleasure

A Poem by Jennifer Roberts

Free Verse poem.

Seeing a cheerleader fall, is there a better sight?
As she topples, the other girls are in fright.
Stupid ribbons and pom-poms fly,
The other girls run over and they cry,
“Cheerleader down!
Cheerleader down!”
I sit back and watch them quickly reassemble,
I sit back, waiting for this pyramid to disassemble.

I was dropped, hard! : ) I see a chiropractor to this very day because of it...twenty some years later. I wonder if anyone enjoyed seeing me fall? Sure they did! I found them laughing in Algebra class and discovered it had even been video taped, which I was thankful to have to show the doctors! Brave of you to reveal this as a pleasure. To this day, I realize it was the kids in drama or band that were the smart ones, I missed out!
