Miss Confident

Miss Confident

A Poem by Jennifer Roberts
"

Free verse. Go girl power!

"

They say Miss Confident is a b***h,
    that's because she is.
She can be heard walking down the hall,
her heels, click, clack, clicking across the tile.
She's not to be messed with,
    she hates f*****g trifles.
She can be seen sitting across the way,
two buttons on her blouse unbuttoned,
fishnet legs crossed, foot bobbing.
She's not here to make friends.
She's strictly business, there's a job that needs done,
she's ready and willing to fight her way to the top.
Miss Confident has been known to approach strangers;
she smiles as she strides up,
puts out a velvet hand and reels the suckers in,
lures them closer with her tantalizing words,
and offers them the world.
    She's a walking threat.
After her business is done,
after she's crushed all the Miss Unconfidents in her way,
after she's collected her check
she's gone. Everyone's talking about her.
All the Unconfidents are hurt, envious and vengeful.
If only the young misses knew that once upon a time,
Miss Confident was a Miss Unconfident too,
until she traded her sweet heart for a backbone.

This is the first poem I found and liked and got me reading more. Good job on this one! Just reminded me of the movie Mean Girls.
