Like an Island

Like an Island

A Poem by J.R.

Like an Island

Tell me how the song goes.

I want to remember when I held your hand.

When we fell in... love

This life won't last forever.

Time is moving fast.

Your hair is like the sky.

Your smile is like the sea.

I wish I could tell you how much, how much you meant to me.

My thoughts fade out slowly.

I can barely remember when.

So tell me how the song goes and we can laugh at past times.

Think about this world, this world cruising by.

I remember it now, that song you liked so much.

I'm running on empty, trying to win you back.

I'm trailing behind in a race where I'm all off track.

I know you're happy.

Your smile is like the sea.

But my heart is like an island now that you're gone from me.
