Superficial and Modest

Superficial and Modest

A Poem by JMS

 it's been good

A long time I know

Even if I wanted to,

It's almost as If I don't.

Something lurches and stifles my voice as it sees you leave and makes no choice to pursue you.

I just watched you go.

And I tell myself I've already run that show.

What you are doing is behaving like a child.

Let my heart grow cold, and unused.

Give me a modest, superficial love, mildly amused.

the short build up to the last two lines were really nice, I enjoyed it.

I like the thought behind this poem. Even though they seem universal, it takes some to express them. Well done, I like this one. :)
