Ferdinandea

Chapter 1.

the major misfortune that has befallen me to be your narrator is that it is a forced affair, that is to say It was not of my decision to have this duty, but some men have to bite the bullet and live to tell a tale so I guess that is my obligation.

It all started many years ago, before the island had sank again. This island Ferdinandea as it was known had been known to mankind since ancient times going back to the first Punic war long recognized for it's contradictory nature for it was incredibly important to European nations as it had been claimed at one time or another for all the different crowns in Europe. Tragically the island was also ridiculously useless, as it was a rocky volcanic outcropping in the Mediterranean sea and this is where my story my tale begins.

I am known as Adán an unremarkable name by any means but I guess that is a metaphor for what I am as a person. A lowly trade adviser to the king and my story began in Sciacca an unremarkable town in Sicily where I was working.
