Fleeced

Fleeced

A Poem by JR

Stood in line at Walmart and I thought about
taking out my eye
with something sharp
something rusty
sharp set of fleecing shears
something that would hurt hurt hurt
as much as it hurts me
to see humanity
standing in stinking rows
filthy rows
stinking up the pharmacy
clutching discount soap
and gossip rags
and their carefully collected coupons
standing like sheep
in baaa baaaa rows
just waiting for the shear man
to come along
strip them to the skin
and me with my daily groceries
carefully collected
(f**k the coupons)
watching it happening
wanting to hurt myself for standing there
a f*****g fool
among all the other fools
getting fleeced
but
there is no more wool
