Song to the Sun

Song to the Sun

A Poem by JR

My flesh is sad
my heart is heavy
troubles and aches and woe is me
but inside where crawls my molecules
everything is ecstasy and cries out
in harmony
stretching for the sun
it’s only my man-ness
that acts as an anchor
structure woven about my bones
from the unknown creator
who we call God;
but inside my cells are in delight
inside them the atoms dance to celebrate the sun
everything atomic
we are what our Sol vomited
in a great belch an untold eon ago
and yet I moan and groan
about my lonely and abandon
and God
who is only a voice in the back of my head
when I listen correctly
but inside where the me
is actually a million million mes
all agreeing to work together
and writhe
without me they writhe
in the air and sea they writhe
in the hills in the motes of my eye they writhe
in harmony
and they hum their song to god
who is the sun.
