You Will Never Be You

You Will Never Be You

A Poem by JR

You face a tunnel now

something thin, something

with menace with hunger

in the dark in the cold

in the moss that clings to

where the wet things are

like them you are wet

like them you are dark

your feet will slip and

your fingers will claw

and others there and

there in the shadow

will gnaw at what flesh

you show they will seek

to fill the hunger that is

theirs and yours and

theirs you will hunger

and you will gnaw and

you face the long and

the long

and the dark

and it is you, and

it is you, and there

is nothing any of us

can do it’s the long

and the long

and the dark and you

will either be eaten

or you will come

out scarred

you will never be you again.

Love your writing, brother.
What I see/sense here is worry, anger, frustration, and their ultimate source: love.
