UFOA Poem by JRI saw something in the sky the other night, something I’d waited my whole life to see, something that didn’t belong to the geometry of the sky and the spin of stars and I was afraid, I got my gun; Stood in the driveway, in my slippers and my threadbare robe, with a pistol in my hand, chambered ready to shoot whatever came my way and it occurred to me I’d waited my whole life for it to happen, and when it did, I was afraid… but ready to act; I think that’s how I intend to live the rest of my life, waiting for the geometry to change, possibly afraid, but ready, pistol in my hand, chambered ready to shoot. © 2020 JR |
