Billy

Billy

A Poem by JR

I’m sitting here all broken up about Billy

and he’s twenty-seven years in the grave

his ghost though, I think maybe it still wanders

that empty campus at night, I know his bones

still haunt me in the mornings;

I knew what was right, Billy, I knew what

I should have done, as a man, as a child,

as a human f*****g being

and I didn’t do it so

go ahead and bring your ghost on by

I’ll pour us coffee with whiskey and we

can wander that empty campus

like we should have,

when you were alive.
