Bitterness

Bitterness

A Poem by JR

The man blew in like sin
like a leaf teased by the wind
she was almost asleep, again
the man skittered in like
shoe leather scrapes a street
like summer cool and
winter heat he blew in
she was almost asleep, again
he blew in and shed
his clothes, laid down beside
her as a bag of bones
he blew in
she was almost asleep, again
he was warm beneath their
blanket of lies
but there was a bitterness
behind her eyes.
