Side-Eye

Side-Eye

A Poem by JR

Oh I think I know the neighbor

is the devil’s son and he’s got side-eye

and his wife, she gives me the feels

that funny feeling I remember

from being a kid, like my neighbor

I can hardly breathe

he’s the devil’s son, and he’s

keeping his side-eye

on me;

These are dark days this storm

it always rains and this year

it’s yellow and I can hardly breathe

(that devil’s son, got side-eye

on me) I got that funny

funny feeling like air

like when I was a kid

and I couldn’t get enough

and I coughed and coughed

and the machines beeped and bleeped

and I could hardly breathe

and the closet was open

the light was off and the

silhouette, the

devil, goddamn he’d sent his son

who will always keep that

old side-eye

on me.
