Down At The River

Down At The River

A Poem by JR

I never knew quite

what to do with the river,

so I threw rocks in, I splashed about

kicked my feet, even though

I could feel the pull

of the current

against my naked flesh;

Now I’m starting to see

there’s no use making a ruckus

or throwing stones, or kicking;

Instead, I should lay back

into the pull against

my naked flesh

and let it carry my body

to where it wants

me to end up.

Beautiful imagery. The idea to stop resisting, struggling, and and face life as it is captured perfectly.
