The Pilot

The Pilot

A Poem by JR

Sylvia I think you’ve gone

and left the pilot off again;

You were always so careful

in the way you arranged your meals

each one so artfully arranged

on the plate, the peas and carrots

separate from the meat

and your gravy thick and bay;

Sylvia I get it, I do

you let them all get to you

your poems were like your plates

so artfully arranged

and yet their meat eventually spoiled

their peas and carrots became plain

you wanted so much more

something you could cook up

that would be different

from everything else

a delight for both the palate

and the mind;

You arranged it all so carefully

and yet

you’ve let

the pilot go off again.

I can relate to Sylvia - I seem to have a short attention span with my writing - thank goodness my pilot light is on (for now) :)
