Wine sells cheap

down at the corner liquor store

but the girls around these parts

want more than I can offer

with my dimes and my devastation

they want more than

poems I type so

this wine sells cheap

and it drinks down easy

brings the numb

but the girls around these parts

drink whiskey and they like it

top shelf, from a bar

they want lively conversation

new tattoos and pure coke

they want gold rings and

better stories

better weed

better trips

they want old money

and oil futures

fresh cigarettes

and all I ever have

is this big a*s bottle of wine

f*****g cheap

down at the corner

liquor store.

Ahh those girls sound like you don’t need their kind around anyway. I love the details in this poem. Nothing wrong with cheap wine if that’s all you can afford and you like it.
