Horses at the Drop

Horses at the Drop

A Poem by JR

There is always time for sorrow

like horses, who run with the wind

along the sloped line of the drop

hooves sure as thunder

they don’t fear the fall

they always just trust

in their sure steps;

There is also time for joy

like horses, who turn into the wind

and churn the swollen grass

with the hammer edge of their nails

hooves as light as rain

they don’t fear the swollen weight

of the sky

they always just trust

in their sure steps.
