Meaty Bone

Meaty Bone

A Poem by JR

Someone once said that jealousy

is a meaty bone

something taken from our own ribs

something that hurts with every

grind of the jaw

by ourselves we groan;

But I’m not so sure about that

I think maybe it’s more of a fear

primal twinge of coming up short

a fear of having no bones at all

and ending up alone
