Silk Sheets

Silk Sheets

A Poem by JR

All you people with your beautiful grins

fall over me like silk sheets

on my marital bed once did

all you people with your empty promises

fall over me like silk sheets

on my marital bed once did

all you people with your highballs and laughs

fall over me like silk sheets

on my marital bed once did

all you people with your tales and your trips

fall over me like silk sheets

on my marital bed once did

I want my grin to be beautiful, as yours

I want my promises to be empty, as yours

I want my gin and my laughter bright, as yours

I want tales, trips, sun and trysts, as yours

I want my life to again

fall over me like silk sheets

on my marital bed once did

The poet wants life to love him like it once did. As intimately as silk sheets kiss the marital bed. Well. I’d say that’s helluva fine poetry! Loved it.

Thanks, I'm glad it came across the way it did.

It did. One of your best work here.
