What A Deal

What A Deal

A Poem by JR

You know, sugar

every decision is a little easier now

my coin is mine to toss

and I alone enjoy the ripples

every breath a little less cotton, now

each choice savory as the meat

that smokes up my kitchen

every fire I light catches

just a bit quicker now

my chair is only my chair

and it creaks with my familiar

heft and frame

my coffee is bold and black

and I take it now how I like

with absolute nothing

so it becomes a void

that stares back at me

that’s how I like it, sugar

I like things raw and unfiltered

every single thing has been easier

since I went ahead and bought

that used headsman’s axe

what a deal.
