Lilac and Cherries

Lilac and Cherries

A Poem by JR

I’d followed you around all evening

it was that kind of party, I think

you may have gauged my interest

while we discussed Roman

military stratagem…

did you know they lost the war?

I watched the way you moved

the twist of your hips

through the people,

like a stiletto

parting cloth

I thought you too sharp for me

but it was you by the door

who caught me by the lips

with your lilac lotion skin

and the taste of

cherry cough drops

on your tongue

you asked me to stay;

love for us now

an old animal

who will curled up

around the house

and go to sleep

dreaming of lilac and cherries.
