Daffodil

Daffodil

A Poem by JR

You know I always return home to you

we never argue when I say

Josh Ritter writes the best love songs

you wait while I fill my wine

you wait while I fill my plate

you never argue when I say

I miss those daffodil days

when I was young, and it was ok

to go rolling down hills with a laugh

I broke my glasses but I made the catch,

you are patient while I tell you the story;

I have nothing but my stories still

you wait while I sing my songs

you wait while I write my words

we have our favorite TV shows

and you laugh at all my jokes

you’re always waiting for me

when I come home

to be with you,

to be by myself
