Everyone Wants RosesA Poem by JRI want to put my thought down and I want to watch pastel of the sky; But everyone wants gold and vacations and piano recitals and plaques for the wall, but more I want silence within my borders and to sip time slow like coffee or tea; But everyone wants lust and pennies and French cheeses and talk type talk, but more I want to snap a picture of daisies and compare them to midnight; But everyone wants roses and jazz bars and prime rib, delicate fruits and a seat at the table, but more I want to wrap myself in threadbare robe and describe the touch of air on a bird in flight; But everyone wants truffles and silk underwear and credit cards and lovers they regret, I take time, bend time, slow time and wish I could whistle my indifference away. it doesn’t matter what we want; we always get what we deserve © 2020 JRFeatured Review
