Time Bender

Time Bender

A Poem by JR

I had spent all day in the sun,

facing my fears head on

with the rack tack rack of the coasters.

I was worn out,

exhausted from all the walking

and adrenaline shots

but she texted me on my way out;

everything was all so new in those days.

And it was like… my chest opened up

I could breathe easier.

I knew I was hours away, but it didn’t matter

it didn’t matter.

I have the ability to bend time, sometimes;

I’ve done it before.

So I did that day.

I made it back in less than an hour,

shouldn’t have been possible, but sometimes…

sometimes I can bend time, just a little.

It doesn’t matter what happens now

for several hours, I could breathe easier.

I could meet her for a beer

and lose myself in her story.

And sometimes, I can bend time.

Just a little.
