Spit

Spit

A Poem by JR

It’s my soul you swallowed, Valentina

not the skin of my lips

nor the flesh of my tongue

not the stone of my insistent thrust

nor my breath which you

drank down like dessert wine

I gifted you my body

but it was my soul you swallowed

and you won’t spit

it out again
