Square Dance

Square Dance

A Poem by JR

One more time around and darling this time

try and make my jaw quiver

make my muscles go tense

heel toe and spin

one more time around and this time

make it hurt just a little more

come right at me with your boots, this time

lock arms and spin

one more time around

and this time I want you to feel it

in your palms, on impact

lock eyes and spin

one more time around and this time

don’t make me a sucker

come squared-up and wearing dancing shoes

heel toe and spin

one more time around and this time

I want you to get it out, all of it

try your best to steal my wind

lock arms and

try and spin me up in circles

because this is the last time, darling

this is the last dance

we’ll ever do
