Alien

Alien

A Poem by JR

(Cons)iderate fellow really

though not really (train)ed to deal with us

we watched as he walk(ed) from the woods

only his shadow walked (with) him

he said he’d (in)vestigated us for years

our wars, (our) atoms and allegories

he was concerned we’d eat our(sel)ves

he said he was our (f)riend but…

he was so strange, (we) didn’t know what

to do with (hi)m, he was an outsider

he just (de)scended from the sky

with his warbled words, slight (fr)ame

maybe he really was just trying to get h(om)e

like (everyone) else
