Surround

A Poem by Jared Pendergrass

We dig our toes into the sand.
She has those blue eyes that'll haunt a man
The tide rolls deep and it pulls me in.

We dig our toes into the sand.
I think of what could've been,
but it's just not the way the story was written.

The waves crash down.
We feel the ocean beneath our feet, steady now.
The seagulls cry with a bittersweet sound.
The beauty of the world, the beauty of it all surrounds.

She says she has to go
I know I'll laugh it off by tomorrow
and say that I'll be fine,
but here she lingers on my mind

It's okay, I'm alright.
I hope you find something tonight.
