Drug War

Drug War

A Poem by J.P.O.et

Governments see all through satellite telescopes

as paranoid minds gaze up scared to cope.

Integral thoughts lost in this insatiable drive for dope,

fools to be dazzled by such false kaleidascopes.

Depressed peoples prescription pills interlope

like repressed prophets with words unspoke.

Turned into aimless puffs of smoke

but the sad truth is they have no hope

as these circumstances their cries invoke.

Another family mourning,

 another Sunday morning

as this war on drugs

 leads to nothing but blood.

The war on drugs is the antidote,

never legalize just criminalize.

Incarceration breaking family ties

as non-violent drug offenders get penalized

for having a problem and the children cry.

Gang warfare created by government lies

and yet many don't vote

eliminating our voices' chance to emote.

Every day another boat

that enters the harbor with drugs in tote

and politicians that promote

stricter penalties as prisons double in size

while another drug addict gets categorized.

Another family mourning,

 another Sunday morning

as this war on drugs

 leads to nothing but blood.

They ride in under moonlight's cloak

and dagger and gunsmoke.

Both will meet on the horizon's darkest hour.

Can anyone survive a killing machine's devour?

Leaving another airway blood choked,

another hallway and tee shirt blood soaked.

Light's arrival met with a stench of disdain,

no eulogies here as they embrace their name.

Another family mourning,

 another Sunday morning

as this war on drugs

 leads to nothing but blood.

I definitely, 100 percent agree with this poem. Do you like The Simpsons? In one episode Marge becomes a cop, and Lisa visits the police station.

Lisa: Mom, I know your intentions are good, but isn't the police force a means to maintain the status quo for the wealthy elite? Shouldn't we be attacking the roots of social problems instead of jamming people into overcrowded prisons?

Right on! Legalize the drugs, and the gov. would have to stop wasting billions on the war (perhaps putting it into healthcare or education instead), the prisons would stop wasting even more money to keep non-violent offenders in their prison cells, and also, there would be no middle man, no more drug money, no more violence over drug money.

Privatize the industry, then tax the s**t out of it.

Psh, I guess it's too logical to work.

Yo, this is dope, man. I like this flow, and I love the fact that you spoke about the so-called 'war on drugs'. When people decide to wake up and realize that there's only a war on US, then and only then will we be able to ascend from the bullshit.

Keep spittin'!

This is a great write with a very essence filled content. The refrain makes it the more flagrant.

Yes I'd be all for legalizing most drugs, that way the criminal part could be eliminated. Young girls wouldn't need to prostitute, others wouldn't need to rob people only to get enough money for the next shot ...

Very important and thought provoking piece.....
