Nothing can keep us together

I am thankful for the pleasure and pain
I hope I gave the same
but I can still feel the burning of our flame
I cry tears knowing i can’t hold you forever
knowing nothing will keep us together
we stole time
but he always goes back to his wife
its not like moulin rouge
if it is
he is just the maharajah
I let you go to win the war
i let you go because there is no happy ending in store
but i am thankful for you
for every kiss that was mine
i hope when you watch the stars
and the Christmas lights
you will know that the pain also burns inside
but I can’t stay here
I must go away and forever disappear
God whispers a new mission
From Him I can never be separated
some are not promised a future
no happy ending
just this painful lesson on earth
and the ache is inside to forever burn
i wish i could tell you this truth
but we are from two very different worlds
but I am thankful for you
because even in the mess I loved you
why were you in my poetry
still you found a different dream come true
but it wasn’t me and you
if we were face to face he would just draw me in to my sweetest embrace
and i know now it was never safe
but with every step i take away
i feel every heartache
it will probably stay with me forever
