In the Amber Glow

In the Amber Glow

A Poem by butterfly

in the amber glow I feel you calling hello
In the purple and pink skies
I see butterflies
Outlining shapes of things I used to love
My little brown dog Daizy,
my little white and brown King Cavalier Jack Russel mix known as Austin and my little white westie poodle Kiddo
I feel almost as if they were close
Rubbing their fur on me when I return home
Yet its just love's ghost
The cost of losing something you loved so very much
Maybe they loved me back
I can never feel the love returned
Yet in the yellow burning shine
I feel a truth that is divine
I am yours and they are mine
I believe in God
God is love and love is kind
Once a pon a time we walked under the same sky
Now everything has vanished to hide
I walk alone and this destiny is mine
I said goodbye to Uncle Joe
I remember he used to stay up with us and watch Beverly Hills 90210
I never understood the story line
He would tell me with serious eyes
Never ever let a guy take away your light
As I walked to target I saw the amber glow
it made me feel like all these angels were getting their halo
I saw Petsmart and felt the cracking of a broken heart
I dont know why we have to part
Even in the mission on earth is complete why separate
Only one thing is for sure in my heart you stay
Shining bright like an eternal flame
As bright as the sunshine
I see your hello in the amber glow

Our pets are amazingly compassionate and love us unconditionally. It’s sad that they are only here for a short time. But what amazing times they are.

Dear Butterfly, your poem touched my heart, so moved I was by your lines. Death separating us from all those we love is so cruel. Those who have faith believe they will meet their loved ones and pets again in the hereafter. I wish I could share those beliefs because I know they would sooth my soul. Thank you for this lovely heartfelt read.
