Honeydew

Honeydew

A Poem by butterfly

When the ball dropped and midnight strikes
It wasn't before he sent his emoji kiss and calling it a night
Oh the sweet new coming like honeydew
In his chocolate eyes
His licorice red vine smile
His deep voice
Telling stories that potential lovers do
We have to distance in this COVID 19 time
It is very different from the year 2020 guys
However I met him already way before
It was at a Barnes and Nobles Bookstore
We walked in mesmerized by the light in his eyes and his wonderful 6 ft height
He came in with a  hug
I was shy like a butterfly
His encircled arms wrapped me in  a cozy snug
Then he spoke his lines
I dont know what he said
Everything now is over my head
He had me before hello
His question was what kind of coffee do you know
I think he ordered black coffee and I had a pumpkin spice latte
It was autumn at the time
I cant say what day or month or year
We sat at the area of tables
Talked about biographies and fables
Each moment I wanted him to be near
But I was too shy
I couldn't read his mind
I wrote  a poem about him when I got home
I don't know which one
Yet yesterday he told me he was a Taurus
His last name starts with an F
I guess its enough to know then
If its meant to be we will be
Till then I am thankful for this new honeydew inspiration of poetry
Falling sweet on me like a kiss emoji
Oh the sweet new
Like a melon honeydew
