For the Service of Noble Workers

For the Service of Noble Workers

A Poem by butterfly

Together on the bed I lay
Stripped off yesterday
Aware of the present
For the service of noble workers
Sacred gifts of heaven
Shining in the sky
Yet we forget to behold the sight
They are left taken for granted every time
Their performance commands a different stage
Their costume requires a mask on their face
No one buys tickets to the nurse's room
No one stands in line to see the teacher
Yet without them we hardly have to  move
They bring us jello and fruit
They bring us control over our soul
While keeping alive the lonely dreamer
Still watching over our body
Ready to do what they must
COVID -19 sets the rules of an unsure reality
We stay home and so many make a fuss
While the nurses stay out on the front
is it for a thousand pieces of gold?
Or pennies that change to mud in their hold?
Is it because God or the President tells them to?
Or is it because they are a nurse
They must find a way to relieve the hurt
They are teachers they must inspire even when it is the very worst
Would we know of our world
Thank you to all these boys and girls
All you sweet children
We see you far in the distance
Running the relay come what may
Your star shines bright in my sky always
I see the caterpillars
working on the land
noble service workers
Performing with their hard working hand
One wears a mask in the ER
One teaches on the video from a far
Nurses and teachers
The fairies and dreamers
Sprinkle your fairy dust on me
Help me to see my body
Help me to know its name
Without you teaching me
I would have grown insane
My favorite ones were Dance, Art and English
I still dance today
When the other kids said she is too fat to sway
Despite what they say
She pulled me to the dance floor anyway
Now it is teacher and nurse day
Thanks for the lessons
Thanks for the medicines
i breathe smarter in a way
With the sunlight on my back
The product of a lovely working hand
I see the caterpillars transform to butterflies
Giving the earth a new rebirth of irreplaceable shine
I am glad I got to know you
Even when times are dark
All you do, I remember always in my heart
For the service of noble workers are unforgettable
These are heroes of our world
Where is Superman, Supergirl
They use a different costume
A black board and a mask
For more noble services to perform with their hands
I see the caterpillars
Roaming over lands
For the service of noble workers
Everything is full circle
They set us all free
Like a thousand butterflies release
