Truer Definition of LoveA Poem by butterflyInspired by a search on the definition of love and inspired by Andrew MarvellWalking in the rain and I checked the box for mail There on the metal was a note and the night felt like a fairy tail A simple call me with names, numbers and a happy face Yet the memories of love were evoked by the handwriting on the page There is something lovely about handwritten notes no matter the message It looked like he used a sharpie to get to me In the moment I saw the lovely Due to the late hour I wasn’t going to return a response I left it on my bed turned the computer on The evoked memories of love are strong Andrew Marvell defines love, " which us doth bind But Fate so enviously debars, Is the conjunction of the mind And opposition of the stars." Yet I walk on in life with a hope filled heart I believe in God and I know infinite impossibilities can still start My love is of a birth as rare As ’tis for object strange and high It was begotten by Despair Upon Impossibility I hope this poet doesn’t mind the inclusion of reference I stumbled upon this definition from search results on the internet I can’t help but hope for us I want to write new poetry that inspires a new definition of love I believe it is something that can never be bottled and labeled We may find lessons in the fable Yet I know our connection is bullet proof and stable Why worry about someone after getting blocked? Did he really have to know for sure? Couldn’t wisdom bring him an answer He is my beautiful stranger Filled with toxic and danger I love him still Always and forever I hear the words whispered For me this is the definition of love It doesn’t ask why or what There is no diamond ring to the puppet string We are free In peace We walk toward each other naked Soaking in life tender and sacred Some times rules have to be broken So our hearts can be open To things unheard of To see the divine layer of God so we can learn a truer definition of love
