Blue In His EyesA Poem by butterflyI could watch the blue in his eyes forever Still I can’t say if we are destined be together He was so tall when he hugged me it felt like he caught my fall We met in coffee city In a Barnes and nobles where books are most pretty He said he had only a little time to meet I didn’t know how to speak he was so handsome I was tongue tied He asked me what books I read my mind was so blank I’d forget He’d laugh and say this was fun it feels like kismet Yet an hour went by and he had to go He has a little one and yet the hour seemed so slow Yet saying goodbye was confusing to know In the meet I spilled my coffee he went up and got my napkins When we started he got my coffee and offered to get me dessert I said I ate two slices of cake before I came He laughed and the caffeine buzzed me awake Made me forget for a moment the feeling of heartache When we parted he sent a text said he had fun He said thanks for meeting me He asked if we should meet again He asked me what we would do I said maybe dinner or an activity He replied “hmmm”so I guess to be continued I tell you though the caffeine buzz was so high When he embraced me in the first hug it was so nice I hardly remember the goodbye I could watch the blue in his eyes forever Still we never really know if we are destined to be together Oh dear husband where are you? All the other guys don’t compare They say I look like a sunflower and they want to smell my petals This is why some remain single While all the other flowers are picked from the garden I will not allow my heart to harden I know somehow some way I will fall in to his eternal embrace Someone’s strong arms will hold a restless heart so still Even in the storm it would know I could watch the blue in his eyes forever Still we don’t know if destiny is meant for us together I feel the flutter of butterfly wings Yet are they strong enough to fly In the night the color of sky matching the blue in his eyes…. © 2019 butterfly |
