Civil War

Civil War

A Poem by butterfly

It seems there is a civil war we always have to fight
Between presidents and civilians
Democrats and Republicans
Black and White
Illegal immigrants
What is the right side of the line?
When will the people of power see that life needs to be lived?
There is still more we can give
More than money, more then material needs
Yet we all need shelter from this bad weather
We need a foundation that can last forever
Truth it was built wrong from day one here in America
When we refused to complement the primary natives
Instead the first ones captured people for slaves
Got in bed with all the females
Many children left for dead
They say its just part of war in the end
It seems there is a better way
Yet we refuse to face
The unknown peace waiting for our embrace
It seems there are many battles still left to be won
Now the war is transformed between enemies like PTSD and other mental disease, and the gun
Husbands killing own wife and children
School kids dying from bullets that glisten
While running off to have an affair with his mistress
Women assaulted as they jog only to be found in the cornfields
Humans are succumbing easier to all the weakness
I am no different and in the end the war is once again transformed
Two different enemies stand facing each other in the storm
Angel and demon
God and Devil
Good and evil
A civil war that was behind the scenes all along
Sometimes its out of our hands
Bigger things make the commands
Its not always easy to understand
As I sit and watch our love drown in the quicksand
We used to be in love, we used to be stronger in the storm
Slowly we faded away in the civil war.
