DREAMA Poem by butterflyCan you see me? Do you understand the words I write? I was walking down the street There in old Oakland in silver letters stood DREAM It felt like God was calling out to me Reminding me to live When did the world get so hard? Today my program mate came in with a broken heart The new job he thought was lined up was cancelled He was low on funds and everything else Tried to break up with his girlfriend Felt less than a man Felt like what is the point of life The money we work so hard for we don’t get to keep with our hands He was quickly sinking down in his own served quicksand Who are we without our job titles? Who are we without our bibles? Who are we without all the labels? Will we still be human? I talked to another program mate about the cloud Started to feel that Black Mirror technology paranoid doubt What has life become about? All our politicians so money driven they quickly sacrifice our God give alaskan land? Can you see me? Do you understand the words I write? The answers are so hard to find Money falls away its meant to be spent Its meant to just symbolize the work days when they end There to help us and help our friends its not what we are For we are more than flesh and bone We are made in the image of the divine Heaven’s light flows inside We are God’s eyes We are Gods heart Yet we get separated from the memory when we stumble in the dark Can you see me? Reaching out to you Can I make my DREAM come true Let’s define life and make it a little less blue Without my money I am still a girl Without a job title he is still a man Why does this world make it so hard to understand ? Together we can find endless possibilities Forever trusting in the DREAM for a peaceful humanity. © 2018 butterfly |
