Everlasting Always

For the innocent victims of LV RIP

I wrote a poem called Time
I was excited about seeing Vegas lights
Having drinks and getting him off my mind
Met a new cute guy
Life was feeling fine
Then the text came
My bestie asked are you in Vegas still today
There is a mass shooting, are you safe?
I was getting ready to go
Waiting for my date to show
If I hadn't been warned, would the shooting gun have left a hole?
Would I be dead now by the gun blow ?
I asked my uncle down on the strip, is it safe?
He said no darling stay away?
Suddenly the Vegas lights started to fade
Suddenly a nightmare invades our fun safe place
In my backyard for the innocent heart
They call it sin city but LV is pretty and smart
Now we see people running with screams
It's confusing but, who is waking from these bad dreams?
I wanted to go, heaven is the place I would rather be
It should have been me
I'm not afraid of death
Yet so many taking one last breath
God had only space for those
Sometimes I think of where we go
How weird it would be to lay in a coffin?
But there is no space in the current ride God is causing
Am I left behind or He wants me to live the rest of life?
I don't understand why
But I know beyond the grave there is a better place
With God I would run away
Then the next morning, my dude asked are you alive?
I would want to kiss him one last time before truly closing my eyes
Maybe that's why I am still here
We never know the reasons dear
Cry it out but dry the tears
Love and God is forever near
Our earthly tale has another chapter
The others have gone on ahead to live truly happily ever after
I am grateful
Life is beautiful even in the dark
Their light will shine one guiding our hearts
Vegas lights shine differently today
New angels were called to guide with grace
I wanted to go but I have to stay
Keep walking and loving in faith
Evil wins when we lose our way
Anger and hate opens the demon gate
They choose the weakest soul to host
For without them they can't come on to the earth
Ignite the love flame so those demons will forever burn
throw away the guns, for demons are immune
Break away the bombs, they won't save any good
Forget weapons of destructions and how they are made
Choose love and faith
God is our only shield everlasting always
That's where the innocent will go
Shining on through dark space
Everlasting always.
