Firework smoke

Firework smoke

A Poem by butterfly

Evening falls
He didnt call
I had a different date tonight
I was far away felt like it was getting late.
Text him for a rain check on Saturday
Firework smoke bombs at nine
My dogs feel the fear trembling on their insides
I calm them as best I can. It is hard to understand
Why do bombs and sparkly lights bring glee to human life?
Tonight America celebrates feeling free
Yet, I know we need unity
As the firework smoke explodes around my Oakland ghetto home
I am reminded by bravery and hope
And so I let go of the past
Watch it burn away in the firework blast
Declaring my independence freedom rings
I hear the song as the banned firework sings
Ten years of hellish slavery ends
Everyday is Saturday and feels strange
I transition. Found a new addiction
As the firework smoke surrounds like war
I feel the gentle wave in my heart
Im ready to light my empty dark
See the gold in my firework smoke
Love me right or just go home
Let me in. I wont play a part in this sin
Yet life without him is not a win
We met on a warm sunny day
Felt like he is my soul mate
He is with another
Why do I bother?
All I can do is hope
As my sky clouds up with firework smoke.

Very interesting poem, transitions from a possible romantic interest, or possible ex, that hadn't called, to the question of why do exploding lights excite humans so much and patriotic events back to the interest/ex again. Was really nice to read, thanks for sharing!
