Chapter 99

A Chapter by Jemma Packman

At the Wyatt family home. Indigo, Summer, Gaz, Priscilla and Iona sat in the backyard. Iona says “How badly did you hurt the kid?”

            Summer says “He’ll survive.”

Indigo says “His pride will be the most damaged.”

Lexi walks behind Summer, pulls her ear until she is stood up, and says “Show me.”

Summer says “Lexi, what the hell?”

            “Show me. Now.”

            “Ethan?” Lexi nods. “No.”

Lexi twists Summer’s ear. Indigo says “Let her go.”

Lexi says “When she shows me.”

Summer says “They were body blows. I’m fine.”

            Priscilla says “Body blows?”

Gaz says “Shoulder, back, base of the throat, and knee.”

            “I’ll help.”

Priscilla stands up and walks to Summer. Summer says “Don’t touch me.”

Lexi says “You do it or she does.”

            “Indi?”

            Indigo says “Lexi, come on.”

Lexi says “Have you seen them?”

            “No.”

“Then either help or shut up.”

            “Sorry, Princess.”

Summer says “Then I’ll do it.”

Lexi says “You had your chance. Priscilla, she’s all yours.”

Priscilla says “Stay still and I won’t hurt you. Or Lexi won’t. Either way.”

Priscilla takes off Summer’s shirt. Lexi says “Pants too.”

Priscilla steps closer to Summer and starts undoing Summer’s jeans. “I finally get you out of your pants.”

Summer says “Still not getting in them.”

Priscilla pulls Summer’s jeans down to her ankles. Sabrina says “Should I ask?”

Iona says “Priscilla’s living a fantasy.”

“Could have sworn it was Summer’s birthday.”

            Lexi says “Injury checking.”

            “How bad?”

Gaz says “Looks good to me.”

            Indigo says “Seconded.”

            Iona says “Seen better?”

            Priscilla says “When?”

Summer says “Lexi, can you tell my mother I’m fine, please?” Lexi stares at Summer. “Lexi?”

            Lexi says “Yeah?”

            “I’m fine, right?”

            “Yes.”

Priscilla laughs, looks at Indigo and says “Shall I say it now?”

Indigo shakes her head and says “There’s very little bruising, but we haven’t checked her back yet.”

            “On it.”

Priscilla reaches for the bottom of Summer’s tank top. Summer grabs Priscilla’s wrists and says “No.”

            “Face Lexi.”

Summer releases Priscilla’s wrists, nods and faces Lexi. “Lexi, you ok?”

            Lexi says “Yeah.”

Priscilla lifts the back of Summer’s top. Gaz says “S**t, Sums. That’s a huge bruise.”

Summer says “It was the hardest one he threw. We done now?”

            “Ask Lexi.”

            “Lexi, you happy now?”

            Lexi says “Yeah.”

“You going to let go off my ear?”

“Yeah.” Lexi doesn’t move. Priscilla moves Lexi’s hand. Lexi blinks and clears her throat. “I’m going to get some ice.”

Lexi walks into the house. “What’s wrong with her?”

            Gaz says “Summer fever.”

Everyone laughs except Summer. “I don’t get it.”
