Chapter 92

Chapter 92

A Chapter by Jemma Packman

Indigo and Priscilla sat in a coffee shop. Priscilla says “That’s sweet.”

Indigo says “I guess. It’s lucky Ethan’s too young to understand it.”

            “Still, she’s sweet.”

“Ok, what are you up to?”

            “Nothing.”

“Bullshit. You’re being nice about Summer.”

            “I’m always nice.”

“No, you’re always suggestive. What’s going on?”

“I’m trying something new, so she’ll be more comfortable around me.”

“Stop it. It’ll freak her out more.”

Priscilla sighs. “Thank f**k. That was hard work.”

“You were doing it for, like, five minutes.”

“I know. I’d never be able to do that and look at her. How does Lexi do it?”

Indigo laughs. “Lexi doesn’t have a crush on Summer.”

“Please. Everyone has a crush on Summer. Anyway, about her birthday. You’ve got the cake sorted, what about gifts?”

“I’m not buying something for you to give her.”

“You’re willing to let me pick something, by myself, for your girlfriend? Your hot girlfriend.”

            “I trust you.”

            “No you don’t.”

            “I do.”

“You haven’t got her anything, have you?”

            “No. Yes. No.”

            “Making no sense, Indigo.”

“I’ve still got the gift I was going to give her when we were kids. It’s in my old room at my parents’ house.”

“So, get her something else, and when we’re at your parent’s, take her upstairs and give it to her. And her gift.”

“Why do you have to mention sex in every conversation?”

“I don’t have to, I just enjoy it. You really going to let me get Summer a gift by myself?”

“Yes. She’s thinking about giving you her number, so don’t screw up.”

            “Really?”

“Yeah. She asked me to thank you for what you did last night. Silvain told her you did a good job.”

“That made her consider giving me her number?”

“No. I offered to give her your number so she could thank you herself. She said she’d think about it.”

“Fair enough. Do you think she’d give me a job with her?”

            “Did you get fired?”

“No. I’m pondering quitting. It’s not for me anymore.”

“Ask her later. You are coming to Gaz’s first practice?”

“I’m not going to pass up seeing anyone in shorts.”

            “Priscilla, they’re kids.”

“Not all of them.” Indigo shakes her head. “I’d better get going. I’ve got shopping to do. See you later.” Priscilla stands up and kisses Indigo’s forehead. “Will you need a ride?”

“No. I’m picking Ethan up from school and taking him. Summer’s meeting us there.”

“You’re really getting into the whole family thing.”

            “You got something against that?”

            “Not if you’re happy. Bye.”

            Priscilla leaves. “I really am.”
