Chapter 60

Chapter 60

A Chapter by Jemma Packman

Four months eight days later.
Mickey and Louisa sat watching TV at Mickey's house. Louisa says "You don't seem excited."
Mickey says "About what?"
Louisa says "Your birthday tomorrow."
Mickey says "Not really. I'm more excited to see Charlie."
Louisa says "What makes you so sure she'll be here?"
Mickey says "She made a promise."
Louisa says "You keep saying that. What promise?"
Mickey says "You'll see tomorrow."
Louisa says "What if she doesn't turn up?"
Mickey says "She will."
Louisa says "And if she doesn't?"
Mickey says "She will. She's never let me down."
Louisa says "Not the same experience of her I've got."
Mickey says "I'm sorry, but I know she'll be home."
Louisa says "I hope she is."
Mickey says "You miss her?"
Louisa says "I'm used to her not being around, I don't want her to disappoint you. I know how much that hurts."
Mickey says "You can't blame her."
Louisa says "Erm, yes I can. This time at least."
Louisa stands up and goes to the door. Mickey says "Where you going?"
Louisa says "Home. I don't want to argue with you, especially about my sister."
Mickey says "We weren't argueing."
Louisa says "We would have. We don't see her the same. I'll see you tomorrow."
Mickey says "Okay."
Louisa opens the door but stops and says "Hey, what time will she be here?"
Mickey says "I don't know. Could be any time from midnight to midnight."
Louisa says "Her time keeping hasn't improved then."
Louisa leaves.
