Chapter 45A Chapter by Jemma PackmanIndigo sat in her living room watching TV. She hears the door open and close and says “I didn’t think you’d show.” Iona says “I didn’t know you were expecting me.” Indigo stands up. “What are you doing here?” “You won’t reply to my texts. You won’t answer my calls. This was the only way I could get you to talk to me.” “I don’t want to talk to you. Get out.” “Please, Indigo, let me explain.” “You had your chance to explain and you didn’t take it.” “Then give me a second chance. Doesn’t everyone deserve one?” “I guess. But not right now. I’m expecting someone.” “You’re not expecting then to show.” “Then I hope I’m surprised.” “You hate surprises.” “Yet here you are.” “I came to make peace.” “Fine. Talk.” “Can I sit down?” Indigo wave her arm at the couch as she sits back in the chair. Iona sits down. “How was Friday night?” “Eventful and none of your business.” “Did she show?” “Not that it concerns you, but yes.” “Why are you being so cold?” “You don’t know? Please?” “I told you, I was trying to protect you from getting hurt by her. Again.” “Why? You knew I wanted answers from her. Even if they hurt.” “We’re friends. Why wouldn’t I try and protect you?” “A friend would have supported me, regardless. Stood by my decisions, even if they were wrong, and picked me up if things didn’t go well. Why couldn’t you do that? Priscila and Reuben did.” “They did it for the drama.” “But they still did it. Reuben stayed away most of the night anyway.” “I’m sorry. I didn’t want to see you in pain. Not again. Not after…” “Don’t bring her into this. How did you know where to find Summer?” “She organised a function for my office a few months ago. When you had those old pictures out, I realized who she was. I rang and pretended I was confirming the details of that night’s event. That’s how I knew.” “What did you say to her?” “I told her to stop messing with you and that if she hurt you, I’d make sure she paid for it.” “Why did you think she’d listen to you? What makes you so special? And how did know she wasn’t answering her phone?” “Is it important? She didn’t listen.” “It’s important to me.” “Why?” Summer says “Why won’t you just tell her we had sex?” Iona turns around to look at Summer. “What are you doing here?” “I was invited.” Summer looks at her watch and smiles at Indigo. “And I’m early.” Indigo says “You are. Wait, you two had sex?” “Yeah.” “When?” “A few months ago. I was a distraction bang.” “A what?” “Like Moxie wanted me to be for her friend.” Iona says “Shut up.” Indigo says “She used you?” Summer says “We used each other. I just didn’t know we were trying to distract ourselves from the same person.” Iona says “Shut up.” Indigo says “Who?” Summer says “You.” Iona jumps at Summer and slaps her. Indigo pulls Iona away from Summer. Iona says “I told you to keep your mouth shut. She never needed to know.” “Yes she did. You two need to figure this out.” Indigo says “I’m lost.” Iona says “I’m leaving. Bye, Indigo.” Iona leaves, slamming the door behind her. “What was that about?” Summer says “She has feelings for you.” “No she doesn’t.” “Oh, she does. But it’s between you and her. Unless you have feelings for her and I’m getting in the way?” “I don’t. She’s a friend. Nothing more.” “Like I said, it’s between you and her.” “What about you and her?” “One night thing. I didn’t know she knew you until I saw a photo of you both, then I got why she did, well, Rosie I guess.” “What is it with you and photos of me?” “Closest I could get to you. Until now.” “You seem pretty far away right now.” Summer walks over to Indigo and puts her hands on Indigo’s waist. “How about now?” “Better but not close enough.” Summer pulls Indigo into her. “Now?” “Almost perfect.” Summer kisses Indigo. “Now?” “You got it.” Summer kisses Indigo. “So, about you being my b***h?” “Bedroom’s upstairs.” “Can we make it that far?” Indigo kisses Summer’s neck. “I can.” Indigo pulls away from Summer and starts walking towards the stairs. “You coming?” Summer nods. Indigo takes off her shirt and throws it at Summer. “Lock the door before you come up.” Indigo walks upstairs. Summer goes to the door. As Summer’s hand touches the door, a pair of underpants hit her in the face. Summer picks the underwear off the floor. “Just in case you were thinking about leaving.” Summer locks the door. “Thought never crossed my mind.” Summer runs up the stairs. © 2016 Jemma Packman |
