Chapter 47

Shannon sat in the apartment. There's a knock at the door but before she can answer it, Mickey and Louisa enter. Mickey says "Hi. Sorry."
Shannon says "You're improving. I'm getting closer to the door. Hi, Louisa."
Louisa says "Hi. Where's CJ?"
Shannon says "Charlie's in the shower."
Mickey says "I'll go get her."
Mickey goes towards the bathroom. Louisa says "You can't go in there while she's showering."
Mickey says "Oh, chill out. It's not like I've never seen it before."
Louisa says "You've seen my sister naked?"
Mickey says "Did I says that?" Mickey walk into the bathroom and shuts the door. "Charlie?" There's no answer. "Charlie?" Mickey taps on the shower screen. "Charlie?" Mickey looks over the shower screen. Charlie is leaning against the wall, face forward. Mickey taps Charlie on the shoulder. Charlie jumps and spins around. "It's me."
Charlie says "How many times have I asked you not to do that?"
Mickey says "A few, but it's the first time I've done it since you moved in here."
Charlie says "True. Can you pass me that towel?"
Mickey says "Why don't you lock the door?"
Charlie says "Then we wouldn't have these moments. Towel." Mickey passes Charlie the towel. Charlie wraps the towel around herself and gets out of the shower. "What are you doing here anyway?"
Mickey says "We're here to pick you and Shannon up."
Charlie says "We who? And for what?"
Mickey says "Me, Lou, Leigh. Your dad's funeral,"
Charlie says "Funeral. Today?"
Mickey says "You forgot? How messed up is your head?"
Charlie says "Get out. Give me five minutes."
Mickey says "No, now."
Charlie says "I'll be ready in five minutes."
Mickey says "If you're not I'll be back in to help."
Charlie says "Out."
Mickey leaves the bathroom. Leigh enters the apartment. Mickey says "You didn't knock."
Leigh says "Hi, Shannon. How you doing?"
Shannon says "Holding up, for now."
Leigh says "Where's Charlie?"
Mickey says "Getting ready. She'd forgotten what today was."
Louisa says "How did she forget?"
Mickey says "I don't know."
Shannon says "She's not been sleeping. I've heard her wandering around in the middle of the night. Maybe she lost her days."
Leigh says "Squid, why don't you and Louisa wait in the car?"
Mickey says "Are you letting me drive?"
Leigh hands Mickey the keys and says "If there's space in front of the building, you can move the car."
Mickey grabs the keys and says "Quick, Lou, before she changes her mind."
Mickey and Louisa leave. Shannon says "Leigh, it's not like Charlie to forget."
Leigh says "I know."
Charlie comes out of the bathroom and says "Hey. What's wrong?"
Leigh says "Get your shoes on."
Charlie puts her trainers on and says "What'd I do?"
Leigh says "Ready? Let's go."
Shannon leaves. Charlie grabs Leigh's arm and says "Is something wrong?"
Leigh says "You tell me." Charlie lets go of Leigh's arm. "We'd better hurry up."
Charlie says "What's the rush? He's not going anywhere."
Leigh and Charlie leave.
