Chapter 39

Chapter 39

A Chapter by Jemma Packman

Priscilla and Indigo sat in Indigos living room. Priscilla says “You actually said that? Out loud?”
Indigo says “Yes.”
Priscilla laughs. “How old are you?”
“Shut up.”
“You mustve sounded like a desperate teenager.”
“I know and its not funny. What if she doesnt call now?”
“Wow. Whipped much?” Indigo throws a cushion at Priscila. “Shell call.”
“How do you know?”
“She went through too much to get you not to.”
“I guess.”
“If youre that worried, call her.”
“I dont want to look clingy.”
“Too late for that.”
“B***h.”
“Hey, at least I asked about you. Have you asked me? No you havent.”
“Sorry. How was last night after I left? No details please.”
“Why?”
“You were with my brother.”
“Yes. Yes I was.”
“Did not need to know that.”
“Hes actually really sweet.”
“Sweet?”
“Yeah.”
“Ok, Im listening.”
“We finished the drinks, went back to mine, one thing was leading to the bedroom and he asked me if I was sure. I havent been asked that since my first time. Anyway, I said yes and, you know. This morning, he wasnt in bed when I woke up. Didnt really think anything of that. I went to grab a coffee and was greeted by a cooked breakfast.”
“Gaz, my brother, did that?”
“Yeah. He said he was about to bring it to me.”
“He was going to bring you breakfast in bed?”
“Even had the tray with a flower ready.”
“You sure it was Gaz?”
“Im sure.” Priscillas phone starts to ring. She looks at the screen. “Thats him now.”
“Answer it and put it on speaker.”
Priscilla puts her phone on the table and answers it. “Hey.”
Through the phone, Gaz says “Hey, yourself. I calling to ask if you wanted to meet up on Monday?”
“What time?”
“After my interview?”
Indigo says “What interview?”
“Was that Indigo?”
Priscilla says “Yeah. Youre on speaker.”
“Hi, sis. I got an interview at the high school. A coach position opened up.”
Indigo says “Why didnt you tell me?”
“I dunno. Anyway, babe, if I text you when I get out, will that be ok?”
“Babe?”
Priscilla says “I dont see why not. You could come over later. If you wanted?”
Gaz says “I dont want to interrupt girl time.”
Indigo says “Youre not. Take her away. Shes picking on me.”
Priscilla says “You deserve it.”
Gaz says “Is she acting like a teenager?”
Indigo huffs. “No.”
Priscilla says “Yes. A hopeless one at that.”
Gaz laughs. “Indigo got some and Summer hasnt let her give back.”
Indigo says “How…? Shut up, Gaz.”
Priscilla says “Left that part out.”
Gaz says “I cant believe she still has that effect on you. Babe, are you sure you want me to come over?”
“Of course.”
“Ok. Ill see you in about an hour. We can continue where we left off this morning.”
Indigo says “Gareth, you are still on speaker.”
Gaz laughs. “Chill, Indigo. Shell call. Or you could call her.”
Priscilla says “Thats what I said.”
“Great minds. Bye, sis. See you soon, Babe.”
“See you.”
Priscilla hangs up. Indigo says “Babe?”
“Called yet?”
Indigo shakes her head. Priscilla grabs Indigos phone. “Hey!”
“Oh shush.” Priscilla dials Summers number and holds the phone to her ear. “Its ringing. And my a*s is vibrating.” Priscilla stands up and grabs phone from under the cushion. “This could be why she hasnt called.”
Indigo grabs both phones. “S**t. She must be looking for this. Why hasnt see come back for it?”
“How should I know. Maybe she doesnt know its here?”
“Of course. What the hell is wrong with me?”
“Wow. You really got it bad.”
“Always did.”
“What was that ringtone about?”
“Private.”
“Ill drop it. For now, but only because Ive got to get home. Take it to her. You may get rewarded.”
“Good idea.”
Indigo stands up and walks with Priscilla to the door. “Dont think Ive forgotten you failed to mention you got laid last night. I want all the details.”
Indigo grabs her keys. “Why?”
“Bank material.”
Indigo opens the door, pushed Priscilla out and follows her out. “Youre disgusting.”
